Mangalitsa

Mangalitsa pigs originated in the former Austro-hungarian region, they were first imported to the US in the early 2000s. Mangalitsa are known for their distinctive wooly coat and for producing tender meat and delicious high-quality fat. Mangalitsa are a slow growing breed, it takes 12-18 months for them to mature and develop their characteristic flavor.

Mangalitsa are a lard pig. While most conventional pigs are bred to have very little body fat, Mangalitsa were cultivated specifically for their high-quality fat, which is what provides the meat its delicious flavor. Mangalitsa fat is a delicacy; it is excellent for rendering lard, adding to wild game or other lean meat, or can be smoked, cured, or whipped and enjoyed as a sweet or savory spread.

Our Mangalitsa are fed Alaska grown grain and raised 100% outdoors.

MBOAR

All of our Mangalitsa are descended from imported stock and are registered with Mangalitsa Breed Organization and Registry (MBOAR). The goal of MBOAR is to preserve the genetic health of mangalitsas in the US by tracing and testing genetic lineage to support better breeding practices. This helps to ensure healthier animals and preserve the unique characteristics of the breed.
